The main cause of fungal infections in people with diabetes is often Candida albicans. Such a yeast-like fungus can create itchiness, most of the time occurring in warm, moist folds of the skin.

Itchiness on localized part of the body is often caused by diabetes. Itchiness can be caused by dry skin, yeast infection, or poor circulation.

Atherosclerosis is a general term of the thickening and hardening of arteries. Atherosclerosis,in fact, narrows the blood vessels. Atherosclerosis bring changes to the skin. In fact, the skin become hairless, thin, cool and shiny. The toes also get cold. Toenails thicken and lose their color. And any workout will cause pain in the calf muscles being given that the muscles are not getting enough oxygen.

The blood carries the infection-fighting white cells, the affected legs heal slowly when the skin is injured. Minor scrapes can even become open sores that heal slowly.

Diabetic blisters can occur on the backs of  hands, toes, fingers,feet, and a few times, on forearms or legs. These sores are painless and have no redness around them and look like burn blisters.

Acanthosis Nigricans is a darkening of the skin at the back of the neck and under the armpit. The skin has a velvety feel. Such a skin condition also occurs on the hands, elbows, and knees. People who are obese are mostly affected by this.

There are a few things you can do to avoid diabetes skin problems:

* Effective control of your diabetes.

* Keep your skin clean and dry.

Do not have very hot showers or baths . If you have dry skin, avoid using bubble baths. Moisturizing soaps may help. After your bath, use an oil-in-water skin cream. But do not put lotions between toes. The extra moisture between your toes can encourage fungus to grow.

* Do not let your skin become too dry. Moisturize it to prevent chapping, especially in cold or windy weather.

* Get your cuts treated right away.

* Do not let your home become more humid during cold ,dry months.

* Do not use feminine hygiene sprays. Use mild shampoos

* Seek the advice of a dermatologist about your skin problems.

* Take good care of your feet to  avoid diabetes skin problems. Also,check your feet every day for sores and cuts.
