1. Some meters offer alternate test sites like arm and thigh.  The arm and thigh require less blood and are mostly pain free as such places are not as sensitive as the fingers. This is very important  if you need to perform more testing .
2. Moreover certain meters contain built-in strip with discs or cartridges to make it easier to handle test strips like accu chek,bayer.
3. Most blood glucose meters  also provide enough memory to store at least  the latest 100 readings,with date and time, plus a running average of  the last 14 to 20 days.

5. Testing dates a trend reports that can be easily downloaded into a computer.
6. Automatic calibration .If your meter don't have this feature you will have to manually set the code numbers or letters ,or code chips so that your meter can recognize every new batch of blood glucose test strips you use. A meter with automatic calibration takes care of this for you.
