1800 Calorie Diabetic Diet Meal Plan

Being diagnosed with diabetes, individuals are forced to examine different aspects of their lifestyle, which includes the possibility of an 1800 calorie diabetic diet plan.  An 1800 calorie meal plan can offer an individual with diabetes a means regulate blood glucose levels, an opportunity to lose weight and decrease the risk of heart problems.  By limiting the amount of calories that are being consumed, the amount of carbohydrates will drop.  This can mean more energy and also a better outlook towards other areas of life.

1800 Calorie Diabetic Diet Meal Plan

Creating a 1800 calorie diabetic diet plan    takes some time and planning.  Time of day is important-create a plan that allows consumption throughout the day rather than packing it into three meals.  This will enable you to maintain energy and lessen the possibility of low blood sugar.  This will be a major adjustment, especially if you are used to eating three meals or if you have not maintained any control of your eating habits that may well have possibly led to the onset of diabetes.  Research is very important to creating a meal plan.

Choose foods and servings that you are applicable rather than using guesswork.  After a few weeks, it will be easier to eyeball the servings, as you progressively become accustomed to them.  Read the label on food items.  Steer away from foods that are high in sugar, fat and carbohydrates.  It's always easier with help.  Don't be afraid to consult with a dietician about creating a meal plan.  Dieticians are experts, and they may have options that you may have never crossed your mind.  They can also give you creative ideas on how to arrange different foods to improve the taste quality of foods.  Also, working with another tends to provide more accountability, which may not be present if you are doing it alone.

The 1800 calorie diabetic diet plan  menu can vary, but there should be consistency in the times that are set to eat.  Limit snacks to less than 200 calories.  This will offer more calories for meal time, yet provide enough energy to continue with activities between meals.  The idea of a menu plan is to allow foods to work together to provide the best possible means of providing energy with foods that work well together.  For this, a balance of 50/20/30 is recommended:  50% calorie intake from carbohydrates, 20% calorie intake from proteins and 30% calorie intake from fats.  Exchanging food is recommended to create diversity in the menu. Exchange means to trade one food from the same food group for another of equal value in calories.
